Nijmegen – Veel gemeentebesturen maskeerden in de afgelopen jaren met boekhoudfraude ongehinderd tekorten van tientallen tot honderden miljoenen euro.
Deze conclusies volgen uit onderzoek van de jaarrekeningen van gemeenten, verricht door registeraccountant drs. L.W.Verhoef. Registeraccountant drs. L.W.Verhoef doet al jarenlang onderzoek naar de kwaliteit van jaarrekeningen en begrotingen van gemeenten en provincies. Zijn bevindingen zijn o.a. inmiddels bevestigd door de Rekenkamers van gemeenten Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Dordrecht. Leo Verhoef heeft zijn bevindingen “uiteraard” moeten bekopen met ontslag, marginalisering, verkettering en belanding in de bijstand. De misstand wordt totaal doodgezwegen. Verbijsterend, pers en media doen er eveneens het zwijgen toe.
De meest schrijnende voorbeelden van deze boekhoudfraudes komt uit grote steden als Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht en Eindhoven. Maar ook Nijmegen wordt genoemd als schrijnend voorbeeld, en dat is niet voor niks. Uit onderzoek van registeraccountant drs. L.W. Verhoef blijkt dat het gemeentebestuur van Nijmegen in de jaarrekeningen over de periode 2010-2013 in totaal een voordelig saldo van opbrengsten en kosten van € 9 miljoen presenteerde. In werkelijkheid was er in deze periode een nadelig saldo van € 143 miljoen. Boekhoudfraude derhalve van € 152 miljoen.
