Nijmegen – De politie in Nijmegen wist dat NEC-supporters een strenge politiemacht zou aantreffen in Amsterdam, bij de laatste wedstrijd van het afgelopen seizoen. Dat meldt de Gelderlander vanochtend. De voetbalcoördinator van de politie zou al van tevoren zijn gebeld door de collega’s in Amsterdam, die daarbij aangaven weinig te tolereren van de supporters van NEC. De politie in Nijmegen heeft dit echter niet gecommuniceerd richting NEC, iets wat normaal wel gebruikelijk is.
Dit komt uit een onderzoek door NEC naar de gang van zaken in de hoofdstad. Zo’n 75 supporters werden voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd Ajax-NEC teruggestuurd naar Nijmegen, toen enkele supporters antisemitische leuzen aanhieven. NEC was daar niet over te spreken, zeker omdat de politie zich van meet af aan provocerend zou hebben gedragen. Ook vele onschuldige supporters werden teruggestuurd. De wedstrijd in Amsterdam eindigde in een 2-2 gelijkspel.
