Maakt het wat uit dat je een boek op een scherm (als licht) leest of als fysiek boek? Doet dat afbreuk aan de inhoud, het gevoel? Of schuilt de specificiteit van literatuur uiteindelijk in andere aspecten dan de materiële drager? En hoe ziet de toekomst van literatuur eruit, als zij letterlijk ‘licht’ wordt?
Martijn Stevens, universitair docent Algemene Cultuurwetenschappen aan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, is geïnteresseerd in de invloed van digitale technologie op de hedendaagse cultuur. Hij gaat in gesprek met filosoof Cees Leijenhorst van de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen.

Deze lezing van het Soeterbeeck Programma van de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen is onderdeel van Wintertuin op de Uni van het Wintertuinfestival. Dit grootste literaire festival van Nederland vindt plaats van 20 t/m 24 november 2013. Het thema is dit jaar ‘lichtheid in de literatuur’, naar een vermeend citaat van A.L. Snijders: “Het leven is al zwaar, laat de literatuur licht zijn”.
Arjan Ederveen, Herman Brusselmans, A.L. Snijders, Wilfried de Jong, Joke van Leeuwen, Mustafa Stitou, Thomas Verbogt, Case Mayfield, De Speld, Meindert Talma, Automatic Sam en vele andere schrijvers, dichters, muzikanten, kunstenaars en wetenschappers treden op tijdens het Wintertuinfestival in Nijmegen.
Op donderdag 21 november strijkt Wintertuin neer op de campus van de Radboud Universiteit. Herman Brusselmans geeft een college over literair management, nieuwsblog De Speld verzorgt een masterclass over satire, het Soeterbeeck Programma gaat in op de vraag in hoeverre literatuur licht mag zijn en drie festivaldirecteuren gaan in debat over literaire festivals in Nederland.
